News

  • Dunsborough Bushfire Investigation: Busselton Detectives and Dunsborough Police are investigating a bushfire that occurred on 16 February 2025 in Dunsborough and are seeking public assistance with any information related to the fire.

  • Prohibited Burning Period Extended: Due to ongoing dry conditions and recent bushfire activity, the prohibited burning period in Busselton has been extended until midnight on Friday, 14 March 2025, and may be further extended to 28 March 2025.

  • Sporting Precinct Closure: The Dunsborough Lakes Sporting Precinct will be closed from Tuesday, March 11th to Friday, March 14th, 2025 to allow for the safe installation of large sporting field lights using heavy machinery.

  • New Water Pipeline Installation: Busselton Water will install a new water pipeline along Caves Road from Mitchell Street to Marybrook Road, Marybrook, starting 3 February 2025.

City of Busselton Updates

  • Economic Development and Marketing Grants Program: This program supports projects that drive positive economic outcomes across the City of Busselton. Round 2 of grant funding closes on 17 March 2025.

  • Busselton-Sugito Sister City Grant Funding Program: A grant program focused on activities that foster and celebrate the City's sister city relationship with Sugito, Japan. Applications close on 31 March 2025.

  • Digital Connectivity Project: The Cook Government is partnering with Swoop to improve digital connectivity in the Busselton and Harvey regions. Four new 40-meter-high towers will enhance fixed wireless broadband services for residents and businesses.

  • Social and Affordable Housing Boost: Housing Choices Western Australia Limited has been selected to build and operate a new 30-dwelling community housing development on Brown Street in Busselton.

  • Temporary Car Park Closure and Playground Installation at Mitchell Park: Starting 12 March 2025, the car park at Mitchell Park will be temporarily closed to accommodate the installation of new playground equipment.

  • Busselton Airport Hangar Ground Leases Available: The Busselton Margaret River Airport has aircraft hangar ground leases available for aviation businesses and investors.

  • Coastal Dune Resilience Project: The City of Busselton is undertaking a project to rehabilitate and enhance coastal dunes along Geographe Bay Road.

  • Commonage Road Reconstruction: Road reconstruction works will be carried out on Commonage Road between Mewett Road and Cornerstone Way, commencing in February and expected to be completed in April 2025. This project may result in traffic delays or detours for commuters.

  • Temporary Closure of Northerly Street: Northerly Street in Vasse is temporarily closed to vehicles from 7 January 2025 for approximately eight weeks.

  • Applications for 2025 Winter Sporting Season Use of Recreational Sporting Grounds & Hard Courts: Applications are open for community sporting clubs and organizations seeking to use City reserves and hard courts during the 2025 winter sporting season (1 April 2025 – 30 September 2025).

  • Re:Dunsborough: An ongoing initiative focused on revitalizing the Dunsborough town center. The project aims to improve streetscapes, support business development, and enhance community spaces.

  • Busselton Margaret River Airport Noise Management Plan Review: The City of Busselton has completed a review of the Busselton Margaret River Airport Noise Management Plan (2022) and proposes amendments to be submitted to the Office of the Environmental Protection Authority for approval.
